Head for Wellington Street, just off the Strand , and you’ll find the magnificent Lyceum Theatre. The huge pillared entrance makes for a dramatic start to an evening out at this popular West End venue. Inside there’s a steep tiered auditorium and amazing balcony with 2000 seats in total and splendid views down to the stage, managing to be both intimate and spacious. There has been a Lyceum in the areas since 1765 but the current building opened its fine doors in the summer of 1834, designed by architect Samuel Beazley and built by Peto and Grissell. For several years a ballroom run by Mecca, the orginal façade remains. But the interior is mostly Art Nouveau, a grand affair designed by Bertie Crewe and restored in 1996 after a long period as a Mecca Ballroom. The theatre re-opened with Jesus Christ Superstar and continues its success with The Lion King. Around 760,000 theatre lovers flock here every year, so join them and buy your Lyceum Theatre tickets through us, right here!
